How to download a CommBank bank statement
In NetBank, CommBank sorts statements by financial year and saves them with Download (PDF). The five steps, the seven-year window and the move to Excel.
CommBank keeps its bank statements in NetBank, sorted by financial year, and hands them over as a PDF. That file is the one ExtractPro converts. Below are the NetBank steps, the CommBank wording behind them and the limits worth knowing before you reach back several years.
Five steps in NetBank
Under the question “How can I download a statement?”, CommBank’s guide to the new NetBank reads: “From the NetBank Home page, select the account for which you want to view or download statements · From the Account details page, select Download latest statement to download your most recent statement, or View all statements to find a specific one · Select the financial year · Choose the statements you want to download: - Click Select all to download all statements for that financial year, or - Tick the box next to specific statements · Select Download (PDF)” Source: CommBank, New NetBank, www.commbank.com.au/digital-banking/new-netbank.html, accessed 7 October 2026.
- 1In NetBank, start from the Home page and select the account you need statements for.
- 2On the Account details page, choose Download latest statement for the most recent one, or View all statements to find another.
- 3Select the financial year.
- 4Tick the statements you want, or click Select all to take every statement for that financial year.
- 5Select Download (PDF): that file is the one you upload to ExtractPro.
Seven years of statements, two of transactions
CommBank’s support page on online statements says “Online statements are kept for up to 7 years - check them in NetBank, the CommBank app, or at a CommBank ATM anytime”. Its NetBank help sets that against the transaction list: “View up to 2 years' worth of transaction details from the transactions page or up to 7 years by going through your past statements.” The new NetBank also keeps a transaction export: “You can continue to export transactions from NetBank in CSV format.”
Closed accounts and the CommBank app
Closing an account does not end access straight away: “Closed an account? Up to 2 years after successfully closing your account, you'll still be able to access statements issued up to 7 years ago.” In the CommBank app, the route goes through Accounts, the account itself, Manage and View statement, then the statement date and Download.
From the CommBank PDF to Excel
Upload the PDF that NetBank saved, or the one a client sent you, and ExtractPro returns an .xlsx with one transaction per row: date, description and amount in their own columns, the balance too when the statement shows it, and every amount stored as a number.
Before you reconcile, compare the closing balance and the number of transactions in the spreadsheet with the PDF. CommBank’s page on ExtractPro:

Frequently asked questions
Can I download a whole financial year of CommBank statements at once?
Yes. Once the financial year is chosen in NetBank, Select all ticks every statement for that year and Download (PDF) saves them. Ticking single boxes picks out only the statements you need.
How long can I reach the statements of a CommBank account I have closed?
For up to 2 years after closing it. In that time, CommBank says, the statements issued up to 7 years before remain available.
What do I do with a CommBank statement PDF I already have?
Upload it to ExtractPro unchanged. If the file is password-protected, type the password as you upload it and it opens in your browser; what you download is an .xlsx with a row per transaction.
