How do you convert your Westpac bank statement to Excel?
Upload a Westpac eStatement and ExtractPro returns an Excel file (.xlsx) in which each transaction takes a row, with its date, description and amount (and the balance, when the statement shows it), and the amounts arrive as numbers rather than text. Westpac calls eStatements “digital versions of your bank statements” and says “You can view up to 7 years of statement history”; in Online Banking, the Statements steps finish with Download PDF. For the transaction list, Westpac lets you “Search up to three years of transaction history in Online Banking or the Westpac App”. Westpac also notes that eStatements can be passed on to accountants. Its site is westpac.com.au.

FAQ
About Westpac statements
01Does a Westpac eStatement convert to Excel with ExtractPro?
Does a Westpac eStatement convert to Excel with ExtractPro?
Yes. Westpac eStatements download as PDFs, and ExtractPro reads each one into an .xlsx where every row is a transaction with its date, description and amount.
02How long does Westpac keep statements for closed accounts?
How long does Westpac keep statements for closed accounts?
Seven years online. Westpac’s page on closed account statements says they “are saved online for seven years”, and for anything older it gives a phone number: “To access statements older than 7 years, call us on 13 20 32…”
03Why convert a Westpac statement if Online Banking already exports transactions?
Why convert a Westpac statement if Online Banking already exports transactions?
Because the Westpac transaction history reaches back three years and the eStatements seven. Westpac’s export page lists the formats for the transaction list: “Choose from 4 different file types in Online Banking available from a desktop – CSV, QBO, QIF or OFX”. For an older period, or a statement a client emailed you, the Westpac eStatement PDF is the file that goes into ExtractPro.
