Australian bank statements to Excel

What CommBank, Westpac, NAB and twelve other banks say about their bank statements, and the 15 Australian banks with a page on ExtractPro.

A statement PDF from an Australian bank goes into ExtractPro and comes out as an Excel workbook (.xlsx), a row for each transaction, with dates, descriptions and amounts split into columns and figures that Excel can add up; a balance column comes along too, when the statement shows it. Below, bank by bank, is what each one says about its statements on its own site, followed by links to the 15 Australian banks with a page on ExtractPro.

What each bank says about its statements

In the bank’s own words:

  • CommBank: its guide to the new NetBank groups statements by financial year and ends with “Select Download (PDF)”; its support pages add that “Online statements are kept for up to 7 years”.
  • Westpac: “eStatements are digital versions of your bank statements.” In Online Banking, the last step is “Select Download PDF to view or print the statement”.
  • NAB: “In NAB Internet Banking you can access up to seven years of bank account statements, and up to two years in the NAB app.”
  • ANZ: “You can access your statements and notices for both open and closed accounts in ANZ Internet Banking.”
  • Macquarie: “Depending on the account you have with us, you can view past statements from the last 2-10 years.”
  • ING Australia: its Help Hub says that after Find, “the statement period will be available to download your electronic statement as a PDF file”.
  • Bendigo Bank: “You can access PDF copies of your statements online in e-banking or Bendigo Bank app”.
  • Suncorp Bank: “For active accounts you can access eStatements issued since 1 July 2013 in the Suncorp Bank App and Internet Banking.” On 7 September 2026, Suncorp Bank announced that its customers “will move to ANZ's banking products, services and digital platforms by June 2027”.
  • BOQ: “eStatements will be available as a PDF and can be printed, saved or emailed if required.”
  • HSBC Australia: “View up to seven years of statement history in a convenient PDF format”.
  • St.George: “Your Digital Statement will download as a PDF”.
  • Ubank: statements come from the app, and “You can download your statements in a .csv or .pdf format”.
  • Great Southern Bank: eStatements sit under Accounts in Online Banking, where you can open “your most recent statement, or from as far back as 7 years ago.”
  • AMP Bank: in the AMP Bank GO app, Statement History ends with “Select file format PDF or CSV to view or save.”
  • People First Bank: “Yes, your eStatement will open as a PDF document”, and the history under My eStatements stays “for up to 24 months.”

Ten of these lines name the PDF. For NAB, ANZ, Macquarie, Suncorp Bank and Great Southern Bank, if the statement you have is a PDF, that is the file to upload. ExtractPro’s download guides for CommBank, Westpac, NAB, Bendigo Bank and HSBC Australia take it one step at a time.

From PDF to Excel with ExtractPro

Any statement PDF will do: one downloaded from internet banking or an app, one that arrived by email, or one a client passed on:

  1. 1Upload the statement PDF as the bank issues it. If it has a password, type it in when you upload and it unlocks in your browser.
  2. 2ExtractPro reads the transactions and lays them out in a table, one per row.
  3. 3Download the Excel file (.xlsx) with date, description and amount, plus the balance when the statement shows it, and amounts as numbers. With the custom format you can download a CSV instead.

For bank reconciliation, it pays to tick off two things first: the last balance of the workbook against the PDF, and its row count against the transactions printed on the statement.
