NatWest names its statement route Statements & transactions, and it publishes separate pages on searching and exporting transactions. This guide covers the PDF route and the seven years behind it, the twelve months the app shows per search, the Excel export, and what NatWest says about midata.

Statements & transactions in Online Banking

NatWest’s page on accessing statements online begins with the log-in: “To access your bank statements online as a downloaded PDF file, simply log into Online Banking at onlinebanking.natwest.com (opens in a new window).” It then names the menu: “You can access your statements as a downloaded PDF file by selecting 'Statements & transactions' from the main menu, where you can download recent or historic statements going back up to 7 years for the account you choose.” Source: NatWest, How do I access my bank statements online?, www.natwest.com/support-centre/view-or-change-your-details/view-statements/how-do-i-access-my-bank-statements-online.html, accessed 10 October 2026.

  1. 1Log into Online Banking.
  2. 2Select Statements & transactions from the main menu.
  3. 3Choose the account.
  4. 4Download a recent or historic statement, going back up to 7 years.

The app: seven years, twelve months at a time

The Mobile app has its own page: “You can search back up to 7 years on your bank statement using the Mobile app. However, you can only see 12 months of statement history for each search.” So a long stretch takes several searches in the app, or the PDF statements in Online Banking. Exporting transactions to Excel

A third page covers searching transactions online: “You can view and search your transactions and statements going back 7 years using Online Banking, provided of course that your account has been open throughout that period.” It continues: “You can select the format to export your transactions to, including Excel and PDF.” Source: NatWest, How do I search for transactions online?, www.natwest.com/support-centre/help-with-your-card/transactions/how-do-i-search-for-transactions-online.html, accessed 10 October 2026.

What NatWest says about midata

On midata, NatWest writes: “We no longer offer customers the ability to download midata as it has been superseded by initiatives such as Open Banking, and the required transactional information can be found in the standard exportable Excel or PDF format when choosing to download your transactions.” The button wording follows: “To export the results, select either ‘Export to Excel..’ or 'Download PDF’, depending on the document type you require”. A transaction export and a statement are separate downloads on NatWest’s pages; the PDF statement is what ExtractPro reads. From the NatWest PDF to Excel

Take the PDF that NatWest gave you and upload it as it is. ExtractPro answers with an .xlsx in which each transaction sits on one row, date, description and amount are split into three columns, amounts are numbers, and the balance is there as well when the statement shows it. If the file needs a password, it is entered at the upload and the PDF opens in your browser.

To finish, set the workbook’s closing balance beside the one printed on the statement, and its row count beside the transactions listed. The NatWest page on ExtractPro:
