HSBC Hong Kong calls its statements eStatements and keeps them under eStatements & eAdvices in Online Banking. Below are the steps, how far back HSBC says they go, what the transaction history on screen covers and what to do with the file once it is saved.

Steps in Online Banking

On its eStatement page HSBC lays out the route: “Step 1: Log on to HSBC Online Banking. Hover over 'Banking' on the top menu. Under 'eStatements & eAdvices', select 'View eStatements and eAdvices'. · Step 2: Filter to the account or accounts you'd like to see eStatements / eAdvices for by choosing the 'Category', 'Account' and 'Document type' you want from the dropdown selections. · Step 3: Scroll down and select the eStatement / eAdvice you wish to view. Once you select it, it will download automatically.”. Source: HSBC Hong Kong, eStatement and eAdvice, www.hsbc.com.hk/accounts/estatement/, accessed 8 October 2026.

  1. 1Log on to HSBC Online Banking and hover over Banking on the top menu.
  2. 2Under eStatements & eAdvices, select View eStatements and eAdvices.
  3. 3Filter by Category, Account and Document type, then scroll down and select the eStatement you wish to view.
  4. 4It downloads automatically. HSBC says eStatements are in PDF, and that PDF is the file to upload to ExtractPro.

In the app

The same page has a further step for the app: “Step 4: You can use the 'Document type' or 'Period' filters to narrow down your search results.” For a phone it adds: “For iOS users : tap the button in the top right corner and select the location you want to save the file to.”

How long HSBC keeps them

The retention line depends on the account: “Your eStatements for integrated accounts, HKD current accounts and HKD savings accounts are retained up to 84 months.” For other accounts, HSBC writes that its eStatements “are retained up to 24 months”, and it counts investment services and securities accounts among them. In its Online Banking FAQ the bank puts the longer figure this way: you can view and download eStatements “up to 7 years (84 months)”. The screen shows less than the eStatement

HSBC’s FAQ answers the question of how far back you can view transaction history. For a credit card or investment account it says “you can view transactions for the last 60 calendar days”. For a current account, savings account or Gold Account it says you can view “transactions that have taken place since your last bank statement”. Anything earlier than that is in the eStatement, which is the document to download. Source: HSBC Hong Kong, Online Banking FAQ, www.hsbc.com.hk/help/faq/internet-banking/, accessed 8 October 2026.

From the HSBC PDF to Excel

The FAQ states the format outright: “All eStatements and eAdvices are in Portable Document Format (PDF).” Drop that PDF into ExtractPro as HSBC produced it. What comes back is an .xlsx with a row per transaction, the date, description and amount in separate columns, the balance too when the eStatement shows it, and each amount stored as a number. A file that arrived by email with a password is unlocked in the browser while it uploads.

When the workbook opens, set its closing balance against the one HSBC prints, and its row count against the transactions on the eStatement. HSBC Hong Kong on ExtractPro:

Frequently asked questions

Do all HSBC accounts keep eStatements for the same time?

No. HSBC gives “up to 84 months” for integrated, HKD current and HKD savings accounts, and “up to 24 months” for the others it lists, investment services and securities accounts among them. Look up the account you need before you plan around a period.

Which filters narrow the list of eStatements?

On the web, Category, Account and Document type. In the app, HSBC adds that you can use “the 'Document type' or 'Period' filters”.

Is an eAdvice the same document as an eStatement?

They are separate documents with a different reach. HSBC says you can view and download eStatements “up to 7 years (84 months)” and “eAdvice for the past 3 months”. The eStatement is the one that ExtractPro converts to Excel.
