Absa Online Banking: a date range, Download and Print and the PDF that opens in a new window, plus the stamped statement and the statement that arrives by email.

Absa’s help pages describe three ways to a statement: a PDF that opens in a new window from Online Banking, a stamped statement that carries additional costs, and a statement that Absa sends by email. This guide covers them in turn and ends with what Absa says about copies of older statements.

Online Banking: the PDF in a new window

The Absa help page “How do I get my statement in PDF format?” gives two instructions: “Choose a date range from the dropdown menu” and “Click or tap Download and Print. A new window will open with a PDF that you can save or print.” Source: Absa, Online Banking help: How do I get my statement in PDF format?, onlinebanking.help.absa.co.za/en/help/transaction-history/statements/how-do-i-get-my-transaction-history-in-pdf-format/, accessed 11 October 2026.

  1. 1In Absa Online Banking, choose a date range from the dropdown menu.
  2. 2Click or tap “Download and Print”.
  3. 3A new window opens with a PDF that you can save or print.

The stamped statement

A second help page covers the stamped statement. Its steps are “Select the Statements tab”, “Choose a date range from the dropdown menu” and “Click or tap Download”, followed by “Please note that there are additional costs when downloading a stamped statement.” On Absa’s page about stamped statements the offer reads “You can now download and print a stamped statement quickly and conveniently from Absa Online Banking or at an Absa ATM.” and a list headed “Who accepts stamped statements?” includes “SARS” among others. A statement by email, and how it opens

On the page about emailed statements Absa says “Your eStatement will be delivered to your email inbox as a PDF attached to the email.” and “For security reasons, you will be prompted to enter a password to open the file.” A statement protected that way still goes to ExtractPro as it is; type the password at the upload step and the file is unlocked in your browser. Older copies and what Absa charges for them

Absa’s help page about older transactions reads “Choose a date range from the dropdown menu or pick a custom start and end date.” Copies are priced in its brochures. In the personal one the row “Copies of statements (per statement)” has “Less than 4 months” at “R50.00” and “4 months or older” at “R100.00”; in the business banking one a note reads “All statements or proof of payment (POP) older than three months retrieved on your behalf will cost R95.00 per statement/POP.” Source: Absa, Online Banking help: How do I see my older transactions?, onlinebanking.help.absa.co.za/en/help/transaction-history/statements/how-do-i-see-my-older-transactions/; Absa, personal banking products pricing brochure, www.absa.co.za/content/dam/south-africa/absa/pdf/pricing-brochure/2026/2026-benefits-and-pricing-personal-banking-products-on-sale.pdf; Absa, business banking 2026 pricing brochure, www.absa.co.za/content/dam/south-africa/absa/pdf/pricing-brochure/2026/absa-bb-pricing-2026-bb-brochure.pdf, accessed 11 October 2026.

From the Absa PDF to Excel

Hand the PDF that Absa produced to ExtractPro just as it came. An .xlsx returns in which each transaction occupies one row, with date, description and amount apart from one another, true numbers for the amounts, and a balance column too when the statement shows it.

Absa statements vary, so the sturdiest test is the transaction count: every line the Absa statement prints should appear once in the workbook, and if a closing balance is shown there, the workbook’s final balance should agree with it. The Absa page on ExtractPro:

Frequently asked questions

Does Absa protect the statement it sends by email?

Absa says “For security reasons, you will be prompted to enter a password to open the file.” Upload the file unchanged, enter the password at the upload step, and ExtractPro unlocks it in your browser.

Which organisations does Absa list as accepting a stamped statement?

Absa’s page has a list headed “Who accepts stamped statements?” and it includes “SARS” among others. The list is Absa’s own; ExtractPro turns the stamped statement into rows.

Can the PDF from the new window and the PDF from an email go through the same steps?

Yes. Absa describes both as a PDF, and each is uploaded unchanged.
