How to download a Santander UK bank statement
Santander UK statements: Mailbox, then Statements and documents, the last 7 years, no watermark, and the 12-month midata file that leaves out personal details.
Santander UK files statements under Statements and documents, which the Mobile Banking app reaches through the Mailbox, and it publishes a separate midata download. Below are the two routes, the seven years on offer, what Santander UK says about watermarks, and what the midata file does and does not contain.
Mailbox, then Statements and documents
Santander UK’s page on paper-free statements gives the app route in three sentences: “To print off a statement in Mobile Banking, click ‘Mailbox’ in the top-right corner and then ‘Statements and documents’. To download it, tap on the download icon in the top right corner of the screen. Once you’ve downloaded the PDF, you can print the document.” For Online Banking it says “To print in Online Banking, log on and click ‘Statements and documents’, then choose the document you’d like to print off and click the print icon.” Source: Santander UK, Paper-free statements and documents, www.santander.co.uk/personal/support/customer-support/your-statements, accessed 10 October 2026.

Seven years, with no watermark
The same page opens with “See your account activity from the last 7 years.” and describes the electronic version: “Our electronic statements no longer have a watermark on them. They’re the same as the statements you get in the mail.” Source: Santander UK, Paper-free statements and documents, www.santander.co.uk/personal/support/customer-support/your-statements, accessed 10 October 2026.
The midata file
Santander UK has a service of its own for transactions: “This service allows you to download 12 months of transaction history from your current account.” The page gives the choice to make, “In the 'Download to' drop-down menu, select 'midata (CSV)' and click on the 'Download' button”, and a caution about content: “Your midata file won't contain any personal information such as your name, address or account number and potentially sensitive transactions are masked for your security.” The page lists no other values for the Download to menu. The midata file and the statement are different documents with different periods, twelve months for one and the last seven years for the other, and the statement is the one with the account details on it. ExtractPro converts the statement.
From the Santander UK PDF to Excel
Use the PDF straight from the download icon, without editing it, and upload it to ExtractPro. In the .xlsx that is returned each transaction takes a row, the date, description and amount are separate columns, amounts are numbers, and a balance column appears when the statement shows it. A password on the file is typed during the upload, and the PDF is opened in your browser.
When the workbook is ready, see that its last balance is the one the statement ends on and that its rows match the listed transactions. The Santander UK page on ExtractPro:
