How do you convert your Emirates NBD bank statement to Excel?

An Emirates NBD statement, such as the e-Statement the bank says is “sent in PDF format to your registered email address in our records”, goes into ExtractPro and comes back as an Excel file (.xlsx), with one transaction per row and the date, description and amount in separate columns (and the balance, when the statement shows it). The bank’s help pages are at emiratesnbd.com. For business banking it also publishes a businessONLINE guide, “businessONLINE - HOW TO ACCESS YOUR STATEMENTS”, and the numbered steps below are the ones from that guide.

FAQ

About Emirates NBD statements

01

Can I upload an Emirates NBD e-Statement to ExtractPro?

Yes. Emirates NBD says “e-Statement has the same frequency of your paper statement.” and “No, e-Statements are free.” The e-Statement you receive is the file to upload, and the Excel file you get back lists every transaction on its row with the amount as a number.

02

How far back can I request a stamped Emirates NBD statement, and what happens to my online history if I close the account?

Emirates NBD’s page for authenticated statement requests says “Maximum of 6 months statements can be requested via the website.” and, for a longer stretch, “up to 3 years tenure by visiting the nearest branch”. On closing an account, Emirates NBD says “Print or download your statements for your record via Online Banking as your online statement history won’t be available after you close your account.”

03

What does Emirates NBD say about the e-Statement password and about authenticated statements?

On its e-Statements page Emirates NBD answers the password question with “Yes, the e-Statement is password protected, and the password is the primary CIF ID. The CIF ID is the middle 8 digits of your account number.” and says “Yes, your e-Statements will have the same look and feel of your paper statement, but your account number and your address will be masked for your own security.” Its page on authenticated statements adds “You can now effortlessly and instantly request for authenticated statements at no cost through the new Mobile Application, Online Banking, WhatsApp Banking, Website or through our Contact Center.” and “The statement is free of charge through the new Mobile and Online Banking application.”

How do I convert an Emirates NBD bank statement to Excel?

To convert an Emirates NBD bank statement to Excel, upload the statement you hold to ExtractPro: you get back an .xlsx with one transaction per row, the date, description and amount in separate columns (and the balance, when the statement shows it), and every amount stored as a number. Emirates NBD’s e-Statements page says “Your e-Statement will be sent in PDF format to your registered email address in our records.” and “e-Statements are available for both checking and savings accounts.” A copy that a colleague or a client forwards to you is handled in the same way.
