How to download an RBC bank statement

RBC statements: Statements/Documents in Online Banking, More then Statements in the app, 7 years of eDocuments and the 18-month limit on Custom Statements.

Convert your RBC statement to Excel for free

RBC describes the route to a statement once for Online Banking and once for the app, and it gives three different lengths: what the app shows first, how long the archive lasts and how much the transaction screen shows. This guide takes the web route and the app route in the bank’s own words, then the three lengths, then the way to Excel.

In RBC Online Banking

The bank’s tutorial on accessing an account statement starts at the Accounts Summary page: “From the Accounts Summary page, select Statements/Documents located at the top right side of the screen.” For a different month it says “You can select a different statement period by using the dropdown menu.” Source: Access Your Account Statement - RBC Royal Bank, www.rbcroyalbank.com/ways-to-bank/tutorials/transactions-and-statements/access-account-statement.html, accessed 8 October 2026.

  1. 1From the Accounts Summary page, select “Statements/Documents” at the top right side of the screen.
  2. 2On the Account Documents page, follow the instructions to download and view your document.
  3. 3To look at another statement period, use the dropdown menu.

In the RBC Mobile app

For the app the same tutorial has three lines: “Tap More in the Navigation Bar”, “Under Services, tap Statements” and “Select an account to view your statement.” RBC’s eStatements page also describes what the app shows before you choose anything: “Your last 6 statements will be presents automatically.” Source: Access Your Account Statement - RBC Royal Bank, www.rbcroyalbank.com/ways-to-bank/tutorials/transactions-and-statements/access-account-statement.html; eStatements - RBC Royal Bank, www.rbcroyalbank.com/banking-services/estatements.html, accessed 8 October 2026.

Seven years, with one exception

The page on document options sets the length of the archive: “Your eDocuments will be available for up to 7 years in Online Banking.” It then makes an exception: “However, some Custom Statements can only go back up to 18 months.” The eStatements page gives seven years as well, in the words “Access up to 7 years of archived eStatements”. The transaction screen is a shorter window

A third RBC page, on managing accounts, is about the transactions you see on screen rather than the statements in the archive: “Online banking allows you to review up to 1000 transactions online”, and the periods on offer stop at “one of the last three months”. A screen of up to 1000 transactions and an archive of seven years are different things, so for a month the screen no longer reaches, the place to look is Statements/Documents. From the RBC statement to Excel

What you hold after Statements/Documents is the file to upload. ExtractPro answers with a workbook in which each transaction occupies a row, three columns carry the date, the description and the amount, the amounts are numeric rather than text, and a balance column appears too when the statement shows it.

Check the result before it is used: count the rows against the transactions listed and, if a closing balance is printed, look at the final balance in the sheet beside it. RBC has a page on ExtractPro:

Frequently asked questions

Do all RBC documents go back seven years?

No. RBC says “Your eDocuments will be available for up to 7 years in Online Banking.” and then “However, some Custom Statements can only go back up to 18 months.” Match the period you need to the kind of document you open.

How many statements does the RBC app show automatically?

RBC’s eStatements page says “Your last 6 statements will be presents automatically.” For an earlier month the tutorial’s app steps apply: “Tap More in the Navigation Bar”, “Under Services, tap Statements” and “Select an account to view your statement.”

Is the RBC transaction screen the same thing as a statement?

RBC’s page on managing accounts says “Online banking allows you to review up to 1000 transactions online”. That is the transaction view. The statement is the document in Statements/Documents, and the document is what ExtractPro reads.
