An RBC statement, such as one you open from “Statements/Documents” in RBC Online Banking, can be given to ExtractPro, which returns an Excel workbook (.xlsx) where each transaction takes a row, with its date, description and amount in columns of their own and the balance as well if the statement carries one. The bank’s help pages are at rbcroyalbank.com, and its eStatements page says “Access up to 7 years of archived eStatements”.

FAQ

About RBC statements

01

Can I upload an RBC eStatement or eDocument to ExtractPro?

Yes. On RBC’s page of document options the bank says “They look the same as paper documents, and you can view, save or print your eDocuments at your convenience.” Upload the file you save as it is: the workbook that comes back has a row for each transaction, with amounts stored as numbers.

02

Which kinds of document does RBC list under Statements/Documents?

RBC’s document options page says “From the Accounts Summary page, select Statements/Documents. Under the Your Documents navigation on left, select Account Documents, Tax Documents or Custom Documents. Choose from the dropdown menus to find and show specific documents. View and download your document(s).” The document you take from there is the file to bring to ExtractPro.

03

How do I reach a different statement period at RBC?

In online banking, RBC’s tutorial says “You can select a different statement period by using the dropdown menu.” In the RBC Mobile app, its eStatements page says “Your last 6 statements will be presents automatically.” Whichever statement you end up with, ExtractPro starts from that statement itself.

How do I convert an RBC bank statement to Excel?

To convert an RBC bank statement to Excel, upload the statement you hold to ExtractPro and download the .xlsx it returns: one transaction per row, the date, description and amount in separate columns (and the balance, when the statement shows it), with every amount stored as a number. RBC’s tutorial on accessing your account statement says “From the Accounts Summary page, select Statements/Documents located at the top right side of the screen.” and, for the RBC Mobile app, “Select an account to view your statement.” A statement that a client or a colleague sends you to work from goes through the same upload.
