How do you convert your CIBC bank statement to Excel?

A CIBC eStatement from the “My Documents” button in CIBC Online Banking goes into ExtractPro, and the Excel file (.xlsx) you get back holds one transaction on each row, with its date, description and amount kept in their own columns (and the balance, where the statement prints one). CIBC’s site is cibc.com, and its eStatements tutorial says “Search through your eStatements, which are categorized by statement date.”

How to download your CIBC eStatements from “My Documents” in Online Banking

  1. On the CIBC Online Banking homepage, select the “My Documents” button.
  2. Go to the Account Documents options, then select “Account statements”.
  3. Select the account you want to find an eStatement for.
  4. Choose the eStatement you want to review: “a PDF will download to your device”.

“Search through your eStatements, which are categorized by statement date. Once you've selected the eStatement you want to review, a PDF will download to your device.”

FAQ

About CIBC statements

01

Can I upload the PDF that CIBC downloads to my device?

Yes. The CIBC tutorial on finding eStatements says “Once you've selected the eStatement you want to review, a PDF will download to your device.” Upload that file untouched and each transaction lands on a row of the spreadsheet, with a numeric amount.

02

Where do I find my eStatements in CIBC Online Banking?

CIBC’s tutorial on finding eStatements says “On the CIBC Online Banking homepage, select the "My Documents" button, which is where you'll find your eStatements.” It then points to the next step, “Go to the Account Documents options, then select "Account statements".”

03

Can I save CIBC statements to use elsewhere?

CIBC’s eStatements page says “View up to 7 years of your credit card and bank account eStatements online and on your mobile device.” and “Or download them to use with your personal finance software.” The downloaded statement is the file ExtractPro reads.
